The cyber security firm highlights the growing importance of security in the cloud era.
Helsinki, Finland – November 29, 2022: Cyber threats are following businesses as they migrate to the cloud, compounding existing challenges for organizations across the globe. To help raise awareness of these challenges and the potential solutions, WithSecure™ (formerly known as F-Secure business) is joining Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin and Business Finland to reach out to organizations in Australia and New Zealand.
According to data from the cyber security firm, threats in the cloud are a growing challenge for businesses. The number of malicious files and URLs shared in cloud instances monitored by WithSecure™ increased by nearly 171% in a six-month period during 2022.
Organizations in Australia and New Zealand must also contend with the more sophisticated threat actors operating in the region, including state-sponsored advanced persistent threats such as Leviathan (APT40), which is widely believed to be affiliated with the Chinese government.
“As we enter the cloud era, organizations need to accommodate certain aspects of the cloud that may be new for them. For example, many cloud services have a shared security model where the provider takes responsibility for some aspects of security, but entrusts others to the users,” explained Jussi Wäre, WithSecure Vice President for Cloud Protection sales in the Asia-Pacific region. “We’re here to work with these organizations to ensure they get the security outcomes they need to achieve their goals, making our presence in the region important.”
